Projects on Water & Agriculture Colombia about to start

The Dutch government intends to support two pilots on innovative water management on palm oil plantations and banana fields in the North of Colombia. The leads were identified during scoping mission which were carried out by Peter Prins and partners.

Farmers in the Magdalena river basin face severe droughts and salinisation. During scoping missions various farmers' organisations  and leading companies were interviewed. An intensive track of exploratory talks and visits followed. Funding of the project leads was a barrier quite a long time. In 2020 the government decided to fund to pilot projects in palm oil and bananas in the framework of the so called 'Delta cooperation'. Selected consortia will carry out the projects.

Strategic and Hands-on

Solving complex issues surrounding food production is like composing music. Working as a team of experts can make for a resounding success. This requires skill, a good plan and a clear goal. And natural affinity with farmers and other parties active in rural areas.

There are many factors that determine whether the crop in an agricultural area is successful. The dependence on the whims of the weather, the market and politics make food systems vulnerable. Soil, water and food systems are connected to an integrated and sustainable approach. Working on operational goals, an action perspective for farmers and other stakeholders. Land Water Food bridges the gap between policy and the agricultural reality. It brings together experts to work with you on an approach with impact! So, why not you?
